Program

Tree
Hill is Jacksonville's Nature Center. The primary goal is to bring
innovative programs in environmental and energy education to the
young people of northeast Florida.
Tree
Hill offers interactive study of our natural environment for students
and youth groups. The curriculum-based programs are specifically
designed to meet the requirements for environmental education in
the Florida Sunshine State Standards and the science objectives
developed by the Duval County School Board. JEA is also part of
the learning equation offering energy education through exhibits
and materials distributed by Tree Hill.
Programs
are designed to keep the participants involved through hands-on
activities in forest ecology utilizing four nature trails, garden
area, science laboratory, discovery room and natural science exhibits.
As part of the activities, teachers and field study assistants are
trained prior to bringing groups to Tree Hill.
In
addition, both pre-visit and post-visit materials are provided to
assist
teachers and group leaders in lesson planning and to reinforce field
learning.
